An unconventional view of chronic conditions

I view IBD and frankly all other “chronic conditions” in an unconventional way. By far most chronic illnesses including: Crohn’s Disease, Ulcerative Colitis, Diabetes, Obesity, Depression, and even many forms of cancer seem to rise from the interaction of our external environment (stress, diet, lack of physical activity, toxins) and our internal environment (how our body, internal organs, immune system, brain etc. operate). We know this because identical twins (and by definition have the same genome) are more likely not to have the same condition, and thus we can discount genetics as an exclusive cause to most issues. The most likely scenario is that a genetic predisposition is triggered by a host of different things including dysbiosis, mitochondrial involvement, immune dysregulation, or the state of the brain and mind (all things influenced by our external environment). And thus I view chronic conditions and autoimmunity not as “dysfunctions” but actually as quite normal responses to the facets of modern society.

If you have a chronic condition, you have an evolutionary advantage

I am going to make a bold statement: if you have Inflammatory Bowel Disease or another chronic condition you have an evolutionary advantage. YOU are more sensitive than most to the regular toxic environmental triggers we all encounter every day (that are toxic to EVERYONE including stress, food additives, lack of sunlight, sedentary lifestyles, heavy metals, glyphosate etc.) and thus you are at an advantage. Your body is literally screaming at you to change your life. While most everyone else continues to unknowingly ingest and be exposed to things that will kill them later in life, your body is reacting now.

So the question is: Are you going to listen to your body?
